Senator Pratt statement on state’s record $17.6 billion surplus

Senator Eric Pratt (R-Prior Lake) today released the following statement in response to the state’s record $17.6 billion surplus:

“This surplus is a clear reflection that Minnesota families and business have been over-taxed for years and will continue to pay excessive taxes in the future. As one of the highest taxed states in the nation, Minnesotans across the state are feeling the effects of inflation eating into their paychecks and are worried about a looming recession and keeping their jobs. Minnesota does not need a Democrat-controlled legislature implementing policies that will only increase the size and scope of government spending. Minnesotans need meaningful tax relief, and Senate Republicans remain committed to fighting for families across the state.”
