Senate Republicans select Sen. Jeremy Miller as new Senate President

Minnesota Senate Republicans on Thursday selected Senator Jeremy Miller (R-Winona) to be Minnesota’s next Senate President. The role is considered the second most powerful position in the Senate.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as Senate President and welcome the responsibility. Senate proceedings will be conducted with all the honor and respect the people of Minnesota deserve,” said Sen. Miller. “I look forward to getting to work with my colleagues from both parties to make the next session a productive one.”

Senator Miller is in his third term representing District 28, which includes Fillmore, Houston, and Winona counties. He served as Deputy Majority Leader during the 2017-2018 legislative sessions. The Senate President will be elected by a majority vote of the full Senate body in January.
