Senator Westrom visits Knute Nelson Care Center to discuss challenges facing nursing homes and home health care

On Monday, Jan. 22, Senator Torrey Westrom (R-Alexandria) visited Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria to discuss the current issues facing Minnesota’s long-term care providers.

We had a very productive meeting and discussed the many challenges facing nursing homes and home health care. With the 2024 legislative session set to begin, it’s critical to have these insights and stories to share and advocate for them down at the Capitol.

During the 2023 legislative session, Republicans secured a $300 million package for nursing homes to prevent closures and make sure those who need higher levels of care have access to it. This agreement includes direct grants, facility rate increases, and a workforce incentive fund that adds up to about an average of $1.1 million for every nursing home in the state. For more information on last year’s nursing home package, please visit: HERE
