Senator Chamberlain statement on Dept. of Health and Dept. of Labor and Industry order to cease Water Gremlin operations

Friends and neighbors,

Earlier today the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry announced they issued an order to immediately cease operations at Water Gremlin. The tragic news is children of Water Gremlin employees were found to have elevated levels of lead in their blood. It is my sincere hope that each of them gets healthy as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, shutting down Water Gremlin is a necessary step to resolve this situation. I wanted to share with you the brief statement I issued to the press, which you can find below.

As always, if you have questions or comments about issues we’re working on here, please contact me at 651-296-1253 or sen.roger.chamberlain@senate.mn.

Sincerely,

Roger

Senator Chamberlain statement on Dept. of Health and Dept. of Labor and Industry order to cease Water Gremlin operations

The Minnesota Department of Health and the Department of Labor and Industry today issued a temporary order to halt operations at Water Gremlin. In addition, the agencies asked a Ramsey County District Court judge to extend the order indefinitely.

Senator Roger Chamberlain (R-Lino Lakes) issued the following statement:

“It’s never good to lose jobs and I hope those who are impacted can land on their feet quickly, but public health and safety must be our first concern. Ceasing Water Gremlin operations, at least for the time being, is a necessary step. If companies misbehave, there must be consequences and accountability. We will continue our efforts to see this to a satisfactory conclusion.”
