Senate Majority Leader Gazelka shocked by Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Dayton veto

Statement of Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka (R-Nisswa) regarding the Minnesota Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Gov. Dayton’s veto of the legislative appropriation:

“I was shocked in June when Gov. Dayton issued his unprecedented veto of the legislative appropriation and I am shocked again today that the Supreme Court is going to stand by and let him permanently upset the balance of power in Minnesota government. We will do whatever is necessary to protect the ability of the legislature to be the voice of the people, including the drastic measures taken today with the LCC funding. We all accomplished a lot in the 2017 session but important issues remain that need our attention. Despite Dayton’s veto and the court’s disappointing decision, Senate Republicans will do our best to continue working for the people of Minnesota.”
