Sen. Paul Anderson: Budget surplus result of growing economy due to tax relief

On February 28, Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) announced that the State of Minnesota has a $329 million budget surplus. This is a $518 million positive change from the $188 million deficit projected by MMB in the November forecast. Senator Paul Anderson released the following statement:

“The Dayton Administration’s announcement of a $329 million budget surplus shows that not only is our economy moving in the right direction, but that the $648 million in tax relief passed by the legislature last session increased economic growth. It is clear: more money in the pocketbooks of Minnesotans leads to a more prosperous state and economy. As the 2018 legislative session moves forward, I will continue to work with my colleagues in the legislature to reform our state’s tax code, invest in our state wisely, and ensure Minnesota families keep their hard-earned wages.”
