Sen. Carla Nelson applauds lower health insurance costs and increased options for Minnesotans

Recently announced 2020 MNSure rates decrease or remain flat; every MN county has at least 2 options

Senator Carla Nelson applauded the recently released 2020 MNSure rates, with every Minnesota health insurance carrier on the individual market lowering premiums or effectively holding premiums flat for the upcoming year. Rates range between a 20% decrease to under a half percent increase with every county offering at least two different health insurance options. Across the state, Minnesotans on the individual market can choose from 122 different plans.

“Minnesotans expect and deserve cost-effective health insurance and the ability to choose a health plan that best fits their needs,” said Senator Nelson, a senior member of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. “Skyrocketing  premiums and deductibles were making health insurance unaffordable for too many Minnesotans. Stable and declining premiums are a much needed course correction.”

“Due to our efforts in the Senate, health insurance rates on the individual market continue to stabilize or decrease,” added Senator Nelson. “Further, health care providers in our state provided more insurance options to Minnesotans. Minnesota serves as a national model in steps to make health insurance more affordable and accessible.”
