Sen. Andrew Lang Statement on Guilty Verdict in Sen. Nicole Mitchell Trial

Senator Andrew Lang (R–Olivia) released the following statement in response to the guilty verdict in the felony burglary trial of Sen. Nicole Mitchell (D‑Woodbury):

“The guilty verdict in the Nicole Mitchell trial confirms what Republicans have been saying for more than a year. Senate Democrats did everything they could to protect her and cling to their one‑seat majority in the Senate. They used that single vote to drive through a partisan, extreme agenda and ram through controversial legislation that is now law.

Nicole Mitchell has not been serving her constituents. She has not been serving Woodbury. She has been clinging to her own power and a taxpayer‑funded paycheck while voting the Democrat party line. Every one of those consequential votes deserves serious review.

I look forward to Senator Mitchell’s resignation so we can begin restoring credibility and dignity to the Capitol. This entire episode has been a stain on the Senate, both in the conduct of a sitting Senator and in the actions of her party, which shamelessly protected a soon‑to‑be felon to advance their agenda.”
