Senator John Jasinski (R-Faribault) has been named a 2026 Legislator of Distinction by the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC), an award given to state lawmakers who show strong leadership and support for Minnesota cities. Senator Jasinski was also recently named a Legislator of Distinction by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities.

“There is nothing more important to me than the people I serve,” Senator Jasinski said. “As elected officials, our responsibility is to our constituents above all. As somebody who has been on city councils and been mayor, I am especially grateful for this award from the League of Minnesota Cities because it represents that I have always put my district first. I look forward to continuing this great partnership for years to come.”

LMC, which represents 98% of Minnesota cities, gives this award each year to legislators who work closely with city officials to solve problems and support local communities. Senator Jasinski earned the honor for his work during the 2026 legislative session, when he partnered with LMC staff and city leaders on transportation issues that affect towns and cities across the state.

One notable contribution was his leadership in changing the Minnesota Department of Transportation's Cost Participation Policy. This policy determines how much money cities have to pay when trunk highway projects happen in their area. Senator Jasinski helped reduce that cost burden, which means cities across Minnesota will have more money available for other local needs instead of covering large shares of state highway project costs.

Senator Jasinski has always remained accessible to city officials and LMC representatives, listening to their concerns and working toward practical solutions. His efforts reflect a continued commitment to the communities he represents, including Faribault and the surrounding cities and towns in his district.
