Pratt Responds to February Forecast and $17.5 Billion Surplus

It was announced today that Minnesota has a historic $17.5 billion surplus.

Senator Eric Pratt (R-Prior Lake) released the following statement in response:

“Today’s announcement is a clear indicator that Minnesotans have been over-taxed for far too long. With a record $17.5 billion surplus, there is no reason tax relief should be left out of the discussion this year. Instead of prioritizing tax relief, Democrats have made their intentions clear: they plan to spend every cent and borrow even more. This does nothing to serve families and businesses that have been grappling with the effects of inflation. Minnesotans have been loud and clear—they expect permanent tax relief and elimination of the tax on Social Security benefits. If we can’t offer that when we have a historic surplus, then when can we?”
