Mathews responds to Governor Walz’s executive orders on guns

Senator Andrew Mathews (R–Princeton) released the following statement in response to Governor Walz’s press conference today regarding his executive orders on guns:

“These are do-nothing executive orders that are meaningless and trying to distract from the Walz fraud scandals,” said Sen. Mathews. “As I said several months ago as a member of the Senate Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, we could do two things immediately that would garner bipartisan support and make an immediate positive impact on school safety— first, fund a School Resource Officer for every single school in Minnesota that wants one, and second, pass funding for schools to upgrade their school security infrastructure

“Unfortunately, Gov. Walz has refused to engage with these common sense measures, and my prediction is this new “Safety Council” will probably be stacked with anti-2A liberals who will “recommend” new ways to try to take guns away from law abiding Minnesotans.”
