Lieske: Democrat Blackout Bill raises energy costs, lowers reliability

Senator Bill Lieske (R-Lonsdale) today issued the following statement about the passage of Senate File 4, the 100% carbon-free by 2040 mandate, also known as the Minnesota Blackout bill.

“The Blackout bill will cause serious power reliability problems during bad weather and make family energy bills go up substantially, according to experts. This is not the direction we want Minnesota to go.

Republicans have a different plan, called the A+ Energy Plan, which aims to provide reliable, affordable energy using different clean energy sources like nuclear, renewable gas, and hydroelectric power. This “all of the above” strategy makes sure there is always enough energy, and it’ll be much less expensive. It is a much better option.”
