Jasinski Newsletter: crime + water infrastructure + workforce grants

Friends and neighbors,

We have seen over and over the effects of repeated efforts to defund and undermine the police. It is still an issue that I hear about from people almost every day. We have to stop making law enforcement’s jobs difficult and instead provide police the support they need, crack down on criminals, and hold judges and prosecutors accountable.

This week we introduced a new public safety plan, called Safe and Sound Minnesota, that will restore safety in our communities.

Rising crime – especially violent crime – is a serious issue, and the Safe and Sound plan will help us take action now.

Critical water infrastructure projects in Owatonna, Medford, and Waseca

This week I presented bills that would provide funding to help with urgent water infrastructure projects in three communities in our area: Owatonna, Medford, and Waseca.

Owatonna and Medford are aiming to build a new regional wastewater facility that serves the two communities. Waseca needs new water and wastewater infrastructure.

Owatonna and Steele County Workforce grants

This week I also presented a bill to provide workforce training grants to Owatonna and Steele County. The bill would spur workforce development in Owatonna and the Steele County area by providing $275,000 in each of the next two years from the state’s workforce development fund for grants to provide career education, wraparound support services, and job skills training in high-demand manufacturing fields.

The demand for skilled workers is increasing due to the emergence of new industries and technologies. Grants and programs like this play an important role in training the leaders of tomorrow. It’s not just great for these cutting-edge businesses and our economy; it helps families by providing career opportunities that can lead them out of poverty. Investing in these programs is essential for preparing individuals for the jobs of the future.
