Housley elected assistant majority leader

Minnesota Senate Republicans elected Senator Karin Housley (R-St. Marys Point) to serve as an assistant majority leader in the upcoming legislative biennium. In addition her caucus leadership role, Senator Housley will continue to serve as chairwoman of the Senate Aging and Long-Term Care Policy Committee.

“I’m looking forward to continue serving the people of District 39 – and it’s an honor to be elected by my colleagues to serve as an assistant leader of our caucus,” Senator Housley said. “There is a lot of work to be done this session and beyond. Working with Governor-elect Walz and the new house majority this upcoming session, I’m hopeful we will be able to pass a responsible state budget and effectively address elder care, rising health care costs, the opioid crisis, and the many other issues important to Minnesotans.”

Senator Housley, of St. Marys Point, is in her second term representing District 39, which includes Stillwater, Forest Lake, Lake Elmo, and other communities in Chisago and Washington counties.
