Senator Mike Goggin response to Minneapolis child care center raid

On June 13, a child care center in Minneapolis was raided over allegations of fraud and misconducted related to improper billing. The investigation, which was conducted by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the United States Department of Health and Human Services, was part of an ongoing probe into the rampant child care funding fraud scandal, which could be costing Minnesota taxpayers as much as $100 million per year.

State Senator Mike Goggin (R-Red Wing) released the following statement.

“This session, we heard a number of horror stories about in home child care providers being targeted by DHS for ridiculous ‘violations’ like having grass that was too pointy. Meanwhile, taxpayers are potentially being defrauded out of hundreds of millions of dollars in improper child care assistance billing. I am glad to see DHS finally focusing its efforts on getting to the bottom of this major scandal.”
