Fillmore County town awarded water infrastructure grant

Greetings from the district,

I wanted to quickly share with you some great news for a community in our area. We received word recently that the city of Ostrander in Fillmore County was just named the recipient of a grant from the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority to rebuild water infrastructure. The announcement was part of a round of infrastructure grants for communities throughout Minnesota totaling more than $42 million.

The grant will help Ostrander with the second phase of their sanitary sewer improvements. The PFA will be providing $180,000 for the $1.49 million project through a Water Infrastructure Fund grant. In addition, the city will also receive funding from the USDA Office of Rural Development in the form of a $1,021,000 grant and a $288,000 loan.

The Minnesota PFA provides financing and technical assistance to help communities build and maintain infrastructure that protects public health and the environment and promotes economic growth. Since its inception in 1987, the PFA has financed over $5 billion in public infrastructure projects in communities throughout Minnesota. Read more on the PFA website.

You can read more about the projects that received funding in the Department of Employment and Economic Development press release announcing the grants.
