Eichorn: Give the surplus back; dumbest bill of the week!

Friends and neighbors,

We already knew Minnesota takes way, way more than it needs from Minnesotans. This week we got additional confirmation of that fact when the office of Management and Budget (MMB) released its February revenue forecast showing a surplus of a mind-bending $19 billion – or $17.5 billion after inflation.

It is time to give the surplus back.

This week we rolled out our Give it Back tax plan to put the surplus back in your pocket. It returns the surplus to you through a combination of permanent tax cuts, direct rebate checks, and property tax relief. It also eliminates the tax on Social Security benefits and provides relief to families with children.

Every day, I hear from Minnesotans who are struggling with high inflation that’s eating away at their paychecks and retirement savings. We need to prioritize returning the surplus to those folks to help ease the stress on their pocketbooks. They badly need relief, and we’re in a great position to provide it.

The Dumbest Bill of the Week!

With Democrats in complete control of the legislature, there is no shortage of dumb ideas or foolish bills. From banning gas-powered lawn equipment to mandating electric Zambonis, it seems like every week they get crazier and crazier. This week they are trying to ban the sale of bottled water in Minnesota.

You read that right. Democrats introduced a bill that would ban the sale of bottled water.

This bill is so insane, I had to honor it as the Dumbest Bill of the Week. Watch my video about it here: https://fb.watch/j1dOO2DoC8/.
