Draheim bill would help more find training in high-wage, high-demand careers

The Minnesota Senate Jobs and Economic Development Committee today heard a bill from Senator Draheim that would require the Department of Employment and Economic Development to focus competitive job-training grants on programs or organizations that specialize in training for high-wage, high-demand careers in fields like healthcare and high tech.

“Inflation is putting a lot of stress on workers trying to make ends meet, which means that training programs specializing in high-wage, high-demand careers are even more critical for folks who want to improve their economic prospects,” Draheim said. “Prioritizing high-wage and high-demand training programs with state grants will help us address workforce shortages that are putting the crunch of Minnesota businesses, especially in key industries, and promote economic growth and stability.”
