Benson bill encourages women to view ultrasounds prior to an abortion

Under a new proposal from Senator Michelle Benson (R-Ham Lake), expectant mothers would be offered an opportunity to view an ultrasound if one were performed at any time prior to an abortion. The bill would not require an ultrasound be performed; it only applies if an ultrasound is being performed during the normal course of treatment. Mothers would not be required to view their ultrasounds.

“The decision to have an abortion is irreversible, and it is not surprising I have heard from so many women who regret their choice,” said Senator Benson. “I pray this common sense change helps more women who are on the fence develop a connection with their unborn babies, so more children will have the chance at life.”
