Today, Senator Mark Koran (R–North Branch) will testify in the Senate Homeland Security & Governmental Affairs’ Subcommittee on Disaster Management, District of Columbia, and Census. The hearing, titled Examining Fraud and Foreign Influence in State and Federal Programs, will focus on the ongoing fraud crisis in Minnesota’s social welfare programs.
“I’m glad the national spotlight is finally on what’s been happening in Minnesota, and that the federal government is stepping in to stop the fraud where Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats have failed to act,” said Sen. Koran. “I’ll be there in my role as a nine-year state senator and a member of the Legislative Audit Commission, which oversees the Office of the Legislative Auditor. But more than that, I’m going as a lifelong Minnesotan who is fed up with the fraud that is harming the programs meant to help the people who need them most.”
Other testifiers include: Haywood Talcove, Chief Executive Officer, LexisNexis Risk Solutions; Seamus Bruner, Vice President, Government Accountability Institute; and Dylan Hedtler-Gaudette, Acting Vice President of Policy & Government Affairs, Project on Government Oversight.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R–MO) serves as the subcommittee chairman.
The hearing will take place today, Feb. 10, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. CST. The hearing will be livestreamed HERE.
