Sue Abderholden, Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota, announced this spring that she will be retiring after 24 years of service advocating for people with mental illness and advancing legislation to improve mental health support across the state.
Senator Rich Draheim (R–Madison Lake) released the following statement:
“Thank you, Sue, for your 24 years of tireless advocacy for mental health in Minnesota,” said Sen. Draheim. “Your dedication and leadership have made a huge impact on countless lives across our state. Minnesota has been incredibly fortunate to benefit from your work, and your legacy will continue to inspire for years to come.
“Mental health can affect anyone and it doesn’t discriminate. If you look around, chances are you know someone who has struggled with it. Sue has done an incredible job of shining a light on these challenges and educating Minnesotans on what the Legislature is doing to increase support. She has been an overwhelmingly positive force in our state.”
