Senator Mathews secures $11.7 million for new intersection at Highway 169 & CR 4 in Zimmerman

On Saturday, May 20, legislative leaders announced a bipartisan agreement to pass a robust bonding bill and deliver $300 million in much-needed funding to the state’s struggling nursing homes. On Monday, May 22, the final day of the 2023 legislative session, the Minnesota Senate approved a bipartisan bonding bill that funds critical infrastructure projects across the state.

The agreement gave Republicans an additional $200 million in the new bonding bill. Now, Senator Mathews has successfully secured $11.7 million for the Highway 169 & CR 4 in Zimmerman project. This funding will be used for property acquisition, engineering and construction.

“I am glad to share that I was able to secure $11.7 million for Highway 169 & CR 4 in Zimmerman,” Senator Andrew Mathews (R-Princeton) said. “This is a meaningful victory for our district here at the end of session. This funding is for the construction of a new intersection and overpass with important safety and mobility improvements. The stoplight in Zimmerman will soon be the only stoplight left in a 75-mile stretch until you reach Onamia, and it was an important local priority of the city and county to get this intersection upgraded. It’s a privilege to secure this funding for the community of Zimmerman.”
