Senator Mathews Agrees with Majority of Minnesotans: Police are Trustworthy

Senator Andrew Mathews (R-Princeton) released the following statement responding to polling showing overwhelming support for law enforcement, and significant concern for rising crime from Minnesotans.

“Minnesotans deserve to not only feel safe walking their streets no matter where they live but also feel confident that the Governor of this state can competently address problems of lawlessness as it occurs,” Mathews said. “Over the past year or so, we have seen violent crime skyrocket throughout the state and a majority of Minnesotans disapprove of the way Governor Walz has handled it. As cries to defund the police ring out in the streets and on social media, most Minnesotans trust law enforcement over political leaders when it comes to keeping their families safe.  Just looking at recent events in the past few weeks and months Governor Walz continues to fail at basic public safety.  Minnesota expects better than this.”
