Senator Karin Housley Stands with Minnesota’s Building Trades: “When We Support the Trades, Everyone Wins”

Senator Karin Housley (R–Stillwater) rallied with building trades workers yesterday, voicing strong support for robust investments in Minnesota’s infrastructure, workforce development, and economy.

“Trade union members are the ones building Minnesota’s future—literally,” Housley told the crowd. “Roads, bridges, water systems, schools—you do it all. And you deserve strong support at the Capitol.”

As the Minority Lead on the Senate Capital Investment Committee, Senator Housley is pushing for a bipartisan bonding bill that prioritizes infrastructure over special interests. “We must focus on real, tangible projects that create jobs and strengthen our communities,” she said. “Safe roads, clean water, and strong infrastructure aren’t partisan—they’re priorities for every Minnesotan.”

Housley also emphasized the need to protect workers and support fair labor practices.

Housley highlighted Minnesota’s 2019 passage of the strongest wage theft law in the country and pledged to keep strengthening those protections.

In addition to immediate infrastructure needs, she stressed the importance of growing the future workforce: “Registered Apprenticeship programs are critical. We need to keep Minnesota’s talent close to home by supporting programs like Construction Careers Pathways, Helmets to Hardhats, Construct Tomorrow, and Building Strong Communities.”

Senator Housley concluded with a call to action: “When we invest in the trades, we invest in our communities, our economy, and our future. I’ll always stand with you.”
