Senator Hall, Senate Republicans raise questions on SOS directing voters to partisan websites on election day

On Super Tuesday, multiple Minnesota residents and members of the media reported that the official Minnesota Secretary of State’s office website was redirecting voters looking for their polling place to BoldProgressives.org. The site belongs to a progressive PAC that solicits donations, collects voter information, and has endorsed Sen. Warren for president, as well as reelection endorsements for other candidates such as New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Voters who were directed to the partisan website before going to cast their votes were greeted with a banner that read: “Vote for bold progressive candidates on election day” and asked to give their info to find their polling location.

“I find it deeply disappointing that the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office was redirecting voters looking for their polling place to a Progressive PAC that has endorsed partisan candidates,” said Senator Dan Hall (R-Burnsville). “Minnesotans look to the Secretary of State’s office as a nonpartisan resource for their elections, and it’s the office’s duty to uphold the integrity of our elections. To see Secretary Simon’s office fail like this and slate our primary election is disturbing. I hope that as a result of this failure and the immediate public feedback, that the office ensures this does not happen again and that Secretary Simon can restore the public’s trust in the office.”
