Senator Andrew Mathews responds to February budget forecast and calls for permanent tax relief

Minnesota’s Department of Management and Budget (MMB) today released its February revenue forecast, which provides information and outlook for Minnesota’s financial picture. The report projects a surplus of $9.253 billion for the next budget cycle, which is up from the previous $7.7 billion surplus in the December forecast.

Senator Andrew Mathews (R-Princeton) released the following statement:

“The latest budget forecast is a clear reminder of just how severely overtaxed Minnesotans are,” Mathews said. “In light of skyrocketing inflation rates, energy prices, and the cost at the gas pump, families’ budgets have been hit hard and they need relief now. It’s critical to get more money back in the pockets of working families and Minnesotans, and I will continue to push for a significant tax cut that is immediate and permanent.”
