Senator Anderson’s Legislative Update

Friends and Neighbors,

These bizarre and difficult times continue. I have heard from so many of you about your businesses, your families, and your communities. I have heard your fears and your frustrations, and I can tell you that I am working to get our economy turned back on for Minnesotans everywhere.

This week was frustrating as Governor Walz announced an extension of his stay-at-home order through May 4th. I understand that the Governor believes he is doing his best for our public health, but many of us are asking him to make more intentional and measured decisions. Sweeping closures across the state are devastating to our economy and Minnesotans everywhere. He seems to be slowly taking steps to reopen businesses, but I hope he will act swiftly. Every day lost is a day that another business cannot recover. Reopening businesses that can maintain basic CDC recommendations and operate safely should be his top priority.  Veteran update

Applications for the Veteran Relief Grant Program are now open to veterans impacted by COVID-19. MDVA will award one-time financial relief grants of $1,000 for both Disaster Relief Grants and Special Needs Grants. You may be eligible if you are a Veteran or the surviving spouse of a deceased Veteran, a Minnesota resident, and/or financially impacted by COVID-19. You can apply through your County Veterans Service Officer, your MDVA Field Operations Representative at FO.MDVA@state.mn.us, or through this link!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover

Although it may not feel like the Passover or Easter season, I am very thankful it is upon us. I think many of us will benefit from the reminder that everything will be restored again soon. We will get through these challenges together. Regardless of your faith, I hope you will find hope and joy as Spring approaches. Whether you are fortunate enough to be at home with your families or if you will be sharing your celebrations over a video chat, I wish all of you the best. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

As always, if I can answer any questions or concerns please contact my office at sen.bruce.anderson@senate.mn or 651-296-5981.
