Senator Anderson applauds use of federal funds for Minnesota Veterans Homes

It was announced recently that all three of Minnesota’s new State Veterans Homes will receive federal funding this year. The project includes homes in three locations: Bemidji, Montevideo, and Preston. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, these three projects are currently slated to receive more than $80 million in federal VA funds.

Senator Bruce Anderson (R-Buffalo) released the following statement commemorating the occasion:

“In 2018, the Minnesota Senate funded a portion of these projects and since then, we have been working diligently to get the federal government to uphold their end of the funding. I am pleased to see it’s finally happening this year and the funding will be awarded to our Veterans who need it,” Anderson said. “The sacrifices made by our Veterans to defend our country deserve recognition and honor. These new homes will provide much easier and more convenient accessibility for our Veterans and their families.”

In 2018, the Legislature’s Bonding bill included $33 million in state funding for these veteran homes, and a resolution was authored in 2019 calling on the federal government to fund their share of the projects.
