Sen. Utke joins legislators on letter to Gov. Dayton regarding Enbridge Line 3 protests

On Thursday, Sen. Paul Utke (R- Park Rapids) joined six Senate and House colleagues from northwestern Minnesota to send a letter to Governor Mark Dayton and Department of Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman relaying concerns from local law enforcement regarding an increased surge in protest threats to Enbridge’s proposed Line 3 Replacement Project.

The letter specifically calls on Governor Dayton and his commissioners to see if they have plans to provide assistance to local authorities in any situation where local law enforcement ends up overwhelmed in terms of resources and personnel.

The full letter can be seen online here.

Concern of protests continues to rise in the region as several scheduled public comment sessions hosted by Minnesota Public Utilities Commission public have already been disrupted or canceled in both Duluth and St. Cloud.
