Senator Carla Nelson issued the following statement regarding the reports of a mass shooting this morning at Annunciation Church and School in South Minneapolis:

“My heart is heavy at the news out of South Minneapolis this morning. I learned of the shooting as I was getting ready to share a photo of my two granddaughters leaving their home for their first day of school. There are no words for such heinous acts inflicting terror upon children. And to do so in a place of worship is evil and devastating. As a former teacher, a mother, and a grandmother, I grieve with the Annunciation community and hold them close in my heart.

My prayers are with every child, parent, educator, and parish member affected by this senseless violence.”
