Olmsted County residents who are dealing with home or vehicle damage caused by this year’s storms can receive in-person assistance at the Rochester Area Insurance Village event on Sept 25, from 2pm to 8pm, at the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Training Center.

The event is hosted by the Minnesota Dept. of Commerce, Olmsted County, and participating area insurance companies. It is free of charge and requires no registration.

“Rebuilding after storm damage can be complicated and stressful,” Sen. Carla Nelson (Rochester) said. “These folks want to help. The Department of Commerce puts on these events specifically to support Minnesotans as they navigate those complications. I encourage everybody who suffered storm damage to take advantage of this great resource.”

Individuals can receive assistance checking the status of claim, asking about coverage, deductibles, repair estimates, figuring out what paperwork an insurer needs, learning what to do if a claim is delayed or encounters complications, and more. Individuals can also receive advice on preparing for future storms.

The Insurance Village event is open to new homeowners, renters, drivers, and anybody with storm-related insurance questions. People do not need to have an active claim to participate.

Attendees should bring their insurance documents and paperwork related to any claim they have, so staff can give them more specific answers and support.
