Sen. Limmer Statement on Brooklyn Center Police Shooting

ST. PAUL, MN –  Senate Public Safety and Judiciary Committee Chair Warren Limmer (R-Maple Grove) released the following statement:

“Yesterday’s shooting and death by a police officer is a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. After significant input from the community and law enforcement last summer, we passed monumental reforms with strong bipartisan support to hold police accountable for the safety of every citizen. These reforms are currently being implemented and police officers across the state are receiving additional training and support to that end.

“Not knowing the exact circumstances of the incident, I am supportive of a full investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to determine what, if anything, could have prevented this accident from happening, or if there is cause for a case against the officers.”
