Sen. Johnson statement on DFL postponing pay-for-play fundraiser

ST. PAUL, MN –  Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson released the following statement responding to the State DFL postponing their pay-for-play fundraiser

“I’m glad to see the DFL is postponing their pay-for-play fundraiser that was a clear violation of the spirit of the campaign law. We are committed to closing this loophole and will continue to push our bill to be passed into law. And we hope Democrats will join us in a show of bipartisanship to meet the expectations of Minnesotans that the legislature is not for sale.”

Senate Republicans offered an amendment to fix the loophole in the Elections Committee earlier this week but were voted down by every Democrat on the committee. Sen. Koran introduced a bill yesterday to make the necessary fix to state law (SF 2739).
