Sen. Jensen’s bill honoring fallen firefighter Cpt. Jeffrey Vollmer unanimously passes MN Senate

Legislation renames portion of HWY 25 “Captain Jeffrey Vollmer Memorial Highway”

Legislation chief-authored by Senator Scott Jensen (R-Chaska) to rename a portion of Highway 25 in Carver County, the “Captain Jeffrey Vollmer Memorial Highway”, unanimously passed the Minnesota Senate on Monday, March 25. The legislation renames the portion from Highway 7 to Highway 30 in honor of fallen firefighter and EMT, Captain Jefferey Vollmer, who served with the Mayer Fire Department.

“Captain Vollmer gave his life serving our community and renaming this highway in his honor is the least we can do to celebrate his legacy,” said Senator Jensen. “A caring father of two, Captain Vollmer is a shining example of how to balance service and family. We hope this honor will inspire others to serve their communities as competently and bravely as Jeffery Vollmer.”

Captain Vollmer is survived by his wife Emily and their two daughters, Anika and Kennedi. He passed away in 2017 following a rigorous firefighting training exercise. The bill now heads to the Minnesota House for their consideration.
