Sen. Jensen unveils 2019 legislative priorities

Addressing the cost of health care, mental health, & pharmaceuticals

During the first week of the 2019 legislative session, Senator Scott Jensen (R-Chaska) unveiled his top priorities for the upcoming session.

“From healthcare to childcare, Minnesotans face rising costs for daily needs,” said Senator Jensen, who is a practicing medical doctor. “Many families are struggling. This session, I intend to focus on increasing health care price transparency, addressing the mental health crisis, and tackling problems in the pharmaceutical industry.”

Other priorities for Senator Jensen include tax conformity, fixing Minnesota’s driver’s license system, and addressing distracted driving. Jensen also believes there is a genuine urgency in creating price ceilings for a multitude of medications, as it has become apparent that the inability to afford life-saving drugs, such as insulin, has caused the death of patients.

“Individuals deciding to unilaterally ration their insulin dosage to make ends meet is risky business and very dangerous,” added Senator Jensen. “This session, I will be introducing legislation that aims to lower the cost of prescription medications for Minnesotans.”
