Sen. Ingebrigtsen responds to House passage of legislation granting driver’s licenses to illegal and undocumented immigrants

On Friday, the Minnesota House took up legislation to provide Minnesota driver’s licenses to illegal and undocumented immigrants. This highly controversial legislation passed off the floor on a 74-52 vote.

“Minnesota shouldn’t be in the business of incentivizing illegal behavior, and by allowing illegal and undocumented immigrants access to driver’s licenses that’s exactly what our state would be doing,” said Senator Ingebrigtsen. “As the House continues to amend and debate the bill, I will be monitoring it, but overall am concerned of the dangerous precedent that it will set.”

The legislation incentivizes illegal immigration, voter fraud, and rewards people who violate the law. The bill also moves Minnesota one step closer to becoming a sanctuary state.
