Minnesota Senate leadership this week announced committee assignments ahead of the 2026 legislative session. Senator Michael Holmstrom (R–Buffalo) will serve on the Judiciary and Public Safety, Agriculture, Veterans, Broadband, and Rural Development, and Education Finance Committees.
“I’m looking forward to bringing Senate District 29’s values of safe communities, strong families, and limited government to my committee assignments,” said Sen. Holmstrom. “Under Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota Democrats, our state has seen a breakdown of the rule of law, a weakening of our ag economy because of government overreach, and a sharp decline in student achievement. I’m excited to get to work for the residents of Wright, Meeker, and Hennepin counties to restore trust in public safety, strengthen our ag economy, and reverse the disastrous course of K-12 education.”
In addition to his committee assignments, Sen. Holmstrom will focus on advancing the bills authored by his predecessor, Sen. Bruce Anderson, into law. The 2026 session is a bonding year, so Sen. Holmstrom is also prioritizing securing funding for bonding requests for projects across District 29.
Sen. Holmstrom was elected in a special election in November 2025. The 2026 legislative session begins Tuesday, Feb. 17.
