Sen. Eichorn calls on residents to attend PUC hearings on Line 3 Pipeline replacement

The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is hosting a series of public hearings regarding the proposed Enbridge Line 3 Pipeline Replacement Project in cities across Minnesota running from Tuesday, September 26 through Thursday, October 26. Senators Eichorn is encouraging residents of their districts to attend these meetings and to share input on this critical project as the PUC debates whether or not to grant the Enbridge project a certificate of need and provide them with a route permit.

The aging pipeline was ordered replaced by the federal government and its construction will mean more than $3 billion in private investment, increase the safety of Minnesota’s water, and thousands of well-paying jobs along the route.

“The decision made by the Public Utilities Commission on whether to not replace Enbridge’s Line 3 Pipeline could provide a $2 billion-dollar economic boost to our Northwest region and the entirety of our state,” said Sen. Justin Eichorn.  “The Pipeline is a common-sense project and it has support from our local governments and a majority of residents across the region. Enbridge has had long history of safety with the Enbridge Mainline Corridor, this new project will only help to increase their safety standards allowing Minnesota to better protect our lands and communities.”

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is also taking public commentary on the Line 3 Replacement Project through November 22, 2017. You can visit Public Utilities Commission website to learn more and submit comments here.
