Nelson applauds grant award for History Center of Olmsted County

Minnesota State Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) today applauded the Minnesota Historical Society for awarding a history grant to the History Center of Olmsted County for building maintenance

“The History Center of Olmsted County has been a southeast Minnesota treasure for nearly 100 years,” Nelson said. “I am glad they have received this grant that will help them continue their important mission of educating the public and preserving our region’s rich history.”

The History Center of Olmsted County will receive a grant of $9,600 to hire an HVAC engineer to evaluate how well the current HVAC system controls the museum environment.

History grants are distributed by the Minnesota Historical Society through the state’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, which is an appropriation made by the legislature. In fiscal year 2022, the legislature approved $7 million for history programs and projects or activities that preserve significant historical resources.
