Senator Julia Coleman has served in the Minnesota State Senate since her election in 2020, resulting in her becoming the youngest woman ever elected to the Minnesota State Senate. She proudly represents Senate District 48, which includes communities in the eastern portion of Carver County. Senator Coleman is the Republican lead of the Education Policy Committee and serves as an Assistant Minority Leader. Prior to being elected to the Senate, Senator Coleman was the public relations manager for Minnesota’s medical device industry and served on the Chanhassen City Council.

In Senator Coleman’s first two terms, she authored and passed many bills to provide better and more efficient resources for students, working mothers, children, and her community. Public safety is a top priority of hers as well, supporting safe neighborhoods and those who protect them.

In addition, Senator Coleman passed tens of millions of dollars in critical funding for multiple infrastructure projects and roadways in her growing district.

Whether serving in the majority or minority, Senator Coleman has a proven track record of passing strong, bipartisan legislation that makes Minnesota a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Senator Coleman is a 2014 graduate of the University of Minnesota. During her time at the U, she served as the Student Body Representative to the Board of Regents and worked for multiple branches of government. In order to help pay for her degree, Coleman earned generous scholarships by winning the title of Miss Minneapolis, and she continues to be involved in the Miss America Organization.

Senator Coleman is the proud mother of three little boys – her oldest son Adam, and identical twins Charles and James. Her family proudly calls Waconia, Minnesota home.
