Sen. Jensen responds to Ramsey County Court ruling against Gov. Dayton veto of funding for the legislature

A Ramsey County Court today ruled that Gov. Dayton cannot use his line item veto authority to eliminate funding for the state legislature. Sen. Scott Jensen (R-Chaska) released the following statement about the court’s action.

“I’m pleased that the court decided to restore funding to the legislature. Minnesotans deserve three equal branches of government, and while I wish this issue could have been avoided from the beginning, I’m glad the courts issued their ruling quickly. I hope the governor accepts the court’s decision and chooses not to appeal, so Minnesotans can move on.

Now is the time to appreciate that the 2017 session was immensely productive and represented a ‘give and take’ compromise between the legislature and governor.

Now is the time for all of us to reach out to one another and move forward with determination to solve the pressing problems of the day.

Now is the time for all of us to say: ‘Thank you Senate Majority Leader Gazelka, House Speaker Daudt, and Governor Dayton for your commitment and service to Minnesotans.  It matters.’”
