Senator Jasinski statement on Highway 14 being left off Corridors of Commerce projects list

The Highway 14 expansion between Owatonna and Dodge Center was not included on a list of Corridors of Commerce projects that are set to receive funding in 2018, according to a Minnesota Department of Transportation announcement. Senator John Jasinski (R-Faribault), vice chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, released the following statement.

“I am incredibly disappointed that Governor Dayton’s Department of Transportation chose to ignore Highway 14 yet again. Corridors of Commerce funding has traditionally been split 50-50 between the metro and Greater Minnesota, yet every project announced today is within 40 miles of downtown Minneapolis. How can anyone say with a straight face that Greater Minnesota is being treated fairly by the Department of Transportation?

Commuters and families in Greater Minnesota should not have to continue playing second fiddle to Minneapolis and St. Paul. I am let down by today’s MnDOT decision, but the fight isn’t over; I will keep working until Highway 14 is completed.”
