The Minnesota Senate today unanimously passed legislation to repeal the state observance of Cesar Chavez Day.
Senator Michael Holmstrom (R–Buffalo) issued the following statement:
“For far too long, this state has honored a man whose Marxist ideology and conduct were deeply troubling,” said Sen. Holmstrom. “It is encouraging to see this body finally recognize the evil at the root of that ideology and take action to remove this stain from our calendar.
Cesar Chavez Day had been recognized on March 31 since 2014, when it was passed by a Democrat-controlled House and Senate and signed into law by Democrat Governor Mark Dayton.
