On Monday, Jan. 5, Gov. Tim Walz announced that he will no longer seek a third term as Minnesota governor. Sen. Torrey Westrom (R-Alexandria) released the following statement:
“Minnesota's fraud investigation is getting too hot, and now Governor Walz is bowing out.
“Under his watch, billions in taxpayer dollars were lost through the Walz-DFL fraud pipeline, despite years of repeated warnings from Republicans. From ‘Feeding Our Future’ to the Somali day care and autism fraud scandals, our state has been in the national headlines for all the wrong reasons. Walz and Democrat leaders are complicit and to blame, as they kept trying to sweep this under the rug.
“Rather than addressing the problem, Walz and the DFL blocked accountability and covered up years of mismanagement. Minnesotans have every right to be outraged, and now is the time to demand transparency and restore integrity to Minnesota government.”
