Eichorn: Emergency aid flowing to nursing homes!

Friends and neighbors,

The emergency nursing home assistance that Republicans secured at the end of session is finally being distributed to facilities throughout the state.

Nursing homes across Minnesota are in desperate circumstances. Around 50 nursing homes have shut down over the past few years. The ones still open are barely surviving. They’ve been pleading for help to stay open, keep their staff, and continue caring for our elderly loved ones. Democrats resisted our efforts to provide assistance, but in the final days of session we were able to broker an agreement to provide $300 million in emergency aid.

On Aug. 1, more than 300 nursing homes – including five here in Senate District 6 – received their first Nursing Facility Grants payment.

Here are the facilities in our area that are receiving payments:

  • Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Crosby: $441,892
  • Good Sam Society Bethany, Brainerd: $530,255
  • Good Sam Society Woodland, Brainerd: $385,661
  • Grand Village, Grand Rapids: $682,882
  • The Emeralds at Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids: $598,536
