A note from Senator Rich Draheim

Another legislative session is in the books. We came together to pass a balanced, bipartisan budget that invests in the priorities of Minnesotans. From the first middle class income tax cut in nearly two decades to the largest investment in public education in state history. We put families first. Further, we passed into law landmark elder care protections, measures to lower the costs of prescription drugs, capped college tuition, and expanded student aid for public and private college students. We also recognized the need for investment in our statewide infrastructure, allocating $6 billion for roads and bridges – all without raising new taxes.

This session, I authored 78 bills, fourth most among all senators, because Minnesotans expect their legislators to work on solutions. Of those bills, nearly 80 percent were bipartisan, because Minnesotans also expect their legislators to work together. I also worked across the aisle on the Legislative Water Commission, tackling invasive species in our state.

It’s truly an honor to represent you and the counties of Rice, Scott, and Le Sueur in the Minnesota Senate. As always, please keep in touch. I’d love to hear from you!
