Minnesota State Senator Jeremy Miller (Winona) was honored by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities (CGMC) with the organization’s Minnesota Legacy Award, given to legislators upon their retirement who have “demonstrated unfailing commitment and made extraordinary contributions to Greater Minnesota during their legislative careers.”

“Representing Southeastern Minnesota as a member of the Minnesota Senate has never been about any one party or any one person,” Sen. Miller said. “For me, it's always been about the people. It's been about sitting down, having conversations, listening to others, and working together to solve problems. It's been a great run and I'm proud of what we have accomplished together. I want to thank the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities for this incredible honor, and I want to thank the cities, the local leaders, and the constituents who trusted me to serve them for so many years. I am forever grateful.”

In a press release, CGMC said: “Sen. Miller’s Senate service has been defined by looking out for Greater Minnesota’s economy. Whether he was wielding the gavel as Senate President, serving as Senate Majority Leader, or during his stints on the Taxes, Jobs & Economic Development, and Capital Investment Committees, he brought a collaborative approach that put rural prosperity first.”

The award was presented at the CGMC annual banquet in New Ulm on July 23.

The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities is a nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization representing more than 100 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Coalition also educates legislators about issues important to Greater Minnesota.
