This week, my Senate GOP colleagues and I rolled out an education package aimed at making schools safer and helping get overall student performance back on track.
Our plan would fund hard security upgrades like ballistic glass and electronic access controls, expand school safety funding, and give schools more tools to deal with classroom disruptions.
On the academic side, our proposal would let schools give parents more transparency over curriculum, let school boards vote to waive the unnecessary unfunded mandates that are crippling budgets, and prioritize fundamentals like reading.
