Gruenhagen: Minnesota’s healthcare crisis, part 2

Friends and neighbors,

In my latest video from the Capitol, I continue my series on the crisis facing our healthcare system.

Government mandates and layers of bureaucracy have driven up costs, narrowed provider networks, and left both patients and doctors frustrated. More than half of Minnesota’s doctors are burned out and considering leaving the profession. By 2030, our state is projected to face a shortage of over 2,200 physicians, which will make it even harder for families to get the care they need.

Despite the ongoing push, single-payer, government-run health care would be a disaster for Minnesota’s hospitals and patients, leaving us with fewer choices and even less access. We need to cut the bureaucracy, strengthen the doctor–patient relationship, and give Minnesotans better options for health care.
