Friends and neighbors,
Since 1979, the University of Minnesota Farm Family Recognition Program has honored farm families from each county for their meaningful contributions to the agricultural industry and their communities. The University of Minnesota recently announced the 2025 Farm Families of the Year.
In our community, the following family farms are this year’s recipients:
- Brian and Kim Fruechte – Lincoln County
- Kruisselbrink Family – Pipestone County
- Kory and Michele Kruse – Rock County
- Darling Family – Nobles County
- Tewes Family – Jackson County
- Tim and Julia Holm – Murray County
- Smith Family – Cottonwood County
Congratulations to the local families honored with this prestigious award! Your family farms are the backbone of Minnesota’s thriving agricultural economy. We deeply appreciate your hard work, dedication, and lasting contributions to our communities and our state.
Families will be recognized at the annual Minnesota Farmfest in Redwood County. The Farm Family of the Year Recognition Ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 7, at 1:15 p.m. at the Wick Buildings Farmfest Center. If you plan to attend Farmfest, I invite you to stop by and congratulate them!
